Brazil is one of the countries that is said to carry the future of the World. It is an emerging market and will be host to the Football World Cup 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. We are pleased to have as our guest speaker Martin Gower-Smith – International Trade Adviser (Brazil Champion) at UK Trade & Investment South East.
Martin brings some fascinating insights into the way the Brazilian economy is developing in ways that many people here will find surprising. We are aware that Brazil has a flourishing aerospace industry, but engineering expertise and innovation spreads across many fields, including oil and gas which is set to grow massively following the discovery of major oil fields off the coast of Brazil. In addition the Olympics in 2016 and the World Cup in 2014 bring new opportunities for British companies.
Martin joined UKTI South East as International Trade Adviser four years ago. He is the region’s champion for Brazil, Sports and Leisure Infrastructure and website internationalisation. On joining UKTI, he spent time in Brazil researching opportunities there and since then he has visited the market regularly. He has taken many of the regions’ exporting businesses on UKTI market visits to Brazil.
