Arab business culture and tips for doing business in the Gulf

Maha El-Metwally, Founder, Cultural Bridges

Maha will discuss the socio-economic composition of societies in the Gulf and the important influence of Islam on daily life there. She will then look in detail at business etiquette for visitors to Gulf countries and provide some handy dos and don’ts for them.

Maha obtained a BA in English and Comparative Literature from the American University in Cairo and followed it with an MA in International Relations at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Following a career with the United Nations in a number of Arab countries, she established Cultural Bridges to assist people from different backgrounds to communicate in a more efficient fashion with their Arab counterparts. Maha is a certified trainer and a sworn interpreter in English, Arabic and Dutch. Over the past 15 years has worked for a wide range of clients including the World Bank, the European Union and the Red Cross.

The event will be introduced by John Twist, director of Farnham Castle. Farnham Castle is a leading provider of intercultural business training to major companies throughout the UK.

Please plan to arrive at 6.00pm for refreshments in a friendly networking environment.  The presentation will start at about 7.00pm and the meeting will conclude by 8.00pm.
